OK so first off, I left my G23 at home. We had a little graduation party for my daughter combined with a B-Day party for my other daughter so I left home without it. On the way home my wife said that we needed to stop by the mall to have my little daughters ears pierced. My 17mo old son had fallen asleep so I carried him into the mall and sat on a bench across from the piercing place. Im just sitting there observing everything around me and I notice these guys in black shirts that looked like gang members about 18 to 19 years old, one was printing really bad (strong side 3:00) then I noticed a couple guys in red shirts staring them down walking on the opposite side of the mall. I was by this time heading into the store for cover, Luckily the ears were pierced and it was time to go I grabed my wife and we left in a hurry she said whats wrong, I told her she said your packing right, when I said no she got kinda upset with me and said you wont do that again right????? She is right I wont...

It doesn't seem like it used to be like that in the 70's. What happened, and what can we do about it? Is it because George Bush has busted our borders wide open, or is it the inner-city 'gangsta' culture, spawned from a lack of responsible fathering, or what? When are the so-called "leaders" of our country going to do something?

Am I insane, or has the culture changed dramatically in the last 30 years?

1. Your're not insane.
2. The culture seems to have changed a bit along the way.

...though I tend to think we've had things like "gangs" for, well, as long as people have roamed the planet. But our intense urbanization has certainly strained the planet's carrying capacity and has stressed the species with density and over-intimacy in certain areas.

Throw in some faulty (or absent) parenting and you have what we see at the malls, streetcorners and elsewhere right now.

Duude, you did good.

I don't even go near the Lancaster area when I'm not carrying if I can avoid it. Usually the only time I don't carry is going to/from work and while I'm actually at work. I'm hoping that'll change soon though thumbsup.gif

Actually this sounds more like Nordstrom's downtown mall then Lancaster. Lancaster is pretty dead. Either way, both make me nervous. I tend to avoid both.

this problem is pretty much everywhere now,,,there's a show on cable called gangland and gives you a very good insite to the problems of innercity youthes of today,,,the pressure to join gangs is huge and starts at such a young age its unbelieable,,,and to lock them up there are many to fill there shoes,,,,,the leaders can run the little "sets" right from prison,,,,,,,its a whole different world out there,,,,so scary for our kids to grow up these days
