The forum also delves into related survival subjects that coincide with conceal carry such as empty hand tactics, edged weapons, improvised weapons, edged weapons, including disucssions about urban/wilderness survival in a potentially hostile environment. The underlining purpose of this forum is for the sharing and continuous development of all forum members’ personal defense skills, knowledge, and mental mindset. The forum’s core focus is on the tactics, training, and related technical elements for legal concealed carry in the Pacific Northwest particularly within Oregon.
In order to comply with COPPA & COPA no one under the age of 18 shall be able to join or participate in this forum. This forum contains adult matter and is restricted to anyone over the age of 18 - period!
About Using This Forum . . .
Acceptable Forum Content Standards
Discussions about selecting and using small arms, defensive tactics, edged weapons, impact weapons, concealed carry issues, pepper spray (oleoresin capsicum), firearm enhancements, ammunition, holsters, self-defense tactics, and the like are welcome. Keep in mind the forum is about tactics, training, and the technical aspects of legal concealed carry and/or survival. Discussions about religion, politics, organizing political rallies or events, and other non-concealed carry or non-technical or tactical issues are best directed to outside forums intended for this type of content.
Bear in mind not all of our members or guests are "gun-oriented" or "gun-enthusiastic" individuals and are not fully acclimated to our culture, lingo, and humor. Many members/guests are brand new to defensive firearms or are purchasing a firearm for personal defense out of necessity rather than as a hobby. Therefore, posts laced with vulgar, suggestive, lewd, or foul language will not only be offensive to some but will be a "turn-off" to the very people we're trying to encourage to join and participate. We’re trying to perpetuate the growth and acceptance of legal concealed carry within the Pacific Northwest.
Some Sensible Guiding Principles for Forum Conduct
When responding to, or composing a post, please focus on the issue or subject of the thread and NOT the person. Maintain the self-respect of each member. Build constructive and honorable relationships. Ask yourself, “Would I say or make this same comment (post) to this member in person…?!” Contribute posts and treat others in an honorable manner.
Also if you are fairly new to the forum and have a question, please use the Search feature and do a quick search to see if your question has been recently discussed. Nothing frustrates members when they make a significant contribution to a topic only to find a few weeks/months later the same subject re-appears. There is no problem re-addressing the subject if it adds a new perspective or angle to it. But we do not need "serial discussions" re-appearing on the forum (serial means they repeat themselves every few months).
What is honor? Honor symbolizes a great moral code—a code of conduct and chivalry. It’s about doing what is right rather than what is expedient. It is about treating others with dignity and respect regardless of age, race, political affiliation, or religion. It is about taking the high road and not whining when life or people seem unfair. Therefore, when posting on this Forum, let's avoid and abstain from such posts as "I hate so-and-so" or posts that bash the men and women of the military, law enforcement, fire fighters or any others who place themselves in harm’s way for the service of our nation.
Also any threads that are illegal, that suggest illegal behavior, or that manufacture intent to harm someone are unacceptable and will be deleted and the member(s) could be banned. We feel that the culture of this forum should avoid radicalism and be reserved politically and philosophically. As a language guideline, if you can post a thread you’re comfortable in sharing with a Priest, Rabbi, Pastor, your sweet little church-going grandma, then that is a good litmus test for the language.
Legal Advice or Interpretation from the Forum
No information on this web site should be taken as legal advice. If you have legal questions please consult an attorney. Any interpretation (yours or from others) regarding the Oregon Revised Statues and other laws is at your own risk.
Posting of Advertisements
The posting of advertisements are limited to the forums and sub-forums as listed on the Web site.
The Forum’s General Policy on the Sale of Firearms
Any buying and/or selling and/or trading and/or advertising and/or other firearm-related transactions (including linking to other sites to sell/trade/buy) using the OCC Forum and/or PM/Email feature is prohibited. This also includes the use of any euphemisms within posts to cloak or conceal the true meaning of your transaction or intention.
For simple reasons of liability, we do not happen to allow selling of firearms or parts that require an FFL to transfer (a lower on an AR-15 for example) through OCC, but non-registered parts and accessories are permitted for sale or trade.
If you are a currently licensed FFL then an exception may be made as long as arrangements have been made in advance through the forum administrators.
When selling items on the forum please ensure you have a legitimate shipping address or contact method to conduct proper transactions with interested parties. Selling of acceptable items is strictly at your OWN RISK. Only legally transferable items are permitted.
Advertising and/or Commercial Postings of Products or Services Including Training Courses
Please be aware this forum does not allow the posting of products or services that are commercial in nature unless you are an advertiser/commercial sponsor of the forum. This includes ANY product or service including training courses. If you are the owner, manager, instructor, rangemaster, or employee (paid or volunteer) of a business or range, you’re not permitted to make announcements about your business, range, courses, or business activities unless you’re an advertiser or sponsor of the forum or have obtain approval from an Administrator. This includes the use of the OCC Forum and/or PM/Email feature to promote, announce, suggest, elude to or solicit your services, courses or training/instructor capability.
The use of the calendar function on the forum is reserved for forum sponsors/advertisers.
News, Politics and Religion
Any hostility of any kind is strictly prohibited. There’s plenty of room in our society (and on this forum) for truly civilized discussion—and we often find that many political issues can be tied in with our various gun laws and ‘carry’ laws both statewide and nationwide.
Any mention of religion should be informational, respectful and cautionary. We didn’t exactly launch this forum to specifically discuss religious (or political) matters.
Humor
We love it. But just keep it clean and within margins of decency and respect. When in doubt, just ask yourself, “Would I want my 12-year-old daughter (or other junior shooter) to read/see this….?”
Working with the Moderators and Administration – aka The “Mod Squad”
This forum is not only about the responsible and legal concealed carry but is a "Place of Honor." Therefore all posts and forum members will treat one another with dignity, honor and respect. Moderators and Administrators (hereafter called the “Mod Squad”) are contributing long hours of thankless, unpaid labor to keep this forum functioning and making it the forum of choice for the promotion and development of concealed carry in the Pacific Northwest.
Therefore, any posts, PMs or e-mails containing argumentative, disrespectful or abusive comments directed toward a member of the Mod Squad—or Mod Squad decisions—are subject to banning. If you have a disagreement about an Administrator or Moderator’s judgment, behavior or conduct, you’re welcome to submit a ONE TIME appeal to SiG Lady who is one of the primary Administrators of the forum. Please allow us time to investigate the charge and get back to you. Once an appeal has been made it may take several days for the Mod Squad to make a final determination. Once the Mod Squad, as a group, makes a determination, the appeal process is completed and the decision is FINAL. You can expect a final decision ranging from a reversal of the decision including a private and/or public apology, all the way to no change and enforcement of the decision. The Mod Squad is in agreement that we are not about who is "right or wrong" but about what is appropriate for The OCC Forum and its mission. Once the appeal process is closed, any further discussions regarding the subject can result in a banning from the forum.
The Administrators and Moderators reserve the right to delete offensive posts, posts that perceive to be offensive and/or are in violation of our guidelines without prior warning or notification.
Thank you for considering membership here at OCC. If you've already registered, then jump on into pool and contribute your knowledge and experiences as you see fit. Feel free to ask questions of moderators and administrators at any time.
